Public libraries are one of our greatest community resources. They provide the community access to books, magazines, newspapers, videos, music, and the internet. Libraries also provide the community with after-school reading programs and adult literacy classes. Nearly everyone will use a public library at least once, and many patronize our libraries on a regular basis. Libraries ensure that everyone has an opportunity to grow and learn.
Recently, our governor has decided to slash government funding for public libraries. Many libraries are facing severely reduced budgets, and the cuts mean hard decisions. Do you reduce the hours you are open to the public, or do you cut the budget for new books and materials? Do you dump the children's story hour, or the teen book club? These are the decisions that libraries are facing now.
Book Boosters is dedicated to supporting the resources that libraries provide. We encourage everyone to patronize and support their local library.
